Christan and I met through mutual friends. We both volunteered for PAACT, a minority student freshman orientation program. Since we had similar friends we ended up spending the summer hanging out together in what has become well known as Group X. Towards the end of the program, Group X performed a dance in the PAACT talent show. We ran outside the auditorium to celebrate our amazing performance and somewhere in all the excitement Christan managed to hit another Group X member in the head! We had to take her to the emergency room...she had a mild concussion. Christan wanted to trail me to the hospital because he was unsure of how to get there. He used this opportunity to his advantage to get my number "just in case" he got caught at a red light and we get separated. After that he started calling and wanted to hang out, just the two of us. Our first date was a movie, we saw the last Anaconda movie and Hero. Since then we have been inseparable! :-)

WHEN WE GOT ENGAGED: October 20, 2007
I had been bothering Christan for a very long time about taking "couple pictures", but we never got around to doing it. One day Christan started being very persistent about us taking pictures. I didn't think anything of it, but was very happy that he wanted to take pictures. He set up the appointment and everything! When we were taking pictures the photographers were putting us in different poses. After several poses they asked Christan to get on one knee. We took a few pictures like that. In the back of my mind I thought Christan was about to make a joke about being on one knee, so when he started to speak and reach for his back pocket I thought he was joking. I even told him to stop joking because we were in the middle of taking pictures! When I saw the ring I realized he was being serious! The photographers were in on it and captured the whole thing on film :-) What I didn't know is that he had already asked my dad in August. My dad almost gave it away one day, but once again I didn't notice the plotting that was going on around me. He did a very good job at surprising me, and I love that we have pictures to capture the moment!
